Chairman

Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg is the Premier of Sarawak, Malaysia, with a career marked by extensive contributions to politics and governance. As Chief Minister since 2017, the Premier has focused on economic development, infrastructure, and preserving Sarawak's cultural heritage. A key advocate for Sarawak's autonomy, he has led initiatives in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and technology, aiming for sustainable growth while promoting Sarawak's unique identity within Malaysia.

Deputy Chairman

Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has been the Deputy Premier of Sarawak and also the Second Minister for Urban Development & Natural Resources (MUDeNR) and the Minister of Industrial & Entrepreneur Development, Sarawak since May 2017. The Deputy Premier has been a Board Member of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) since May 1999 and Chairman of STIDC Board since May 2011. He has been appointed as the Second Minister of Planning & Resource Management since July 2004.  On September 30, 2011, he was also appointed as the Minister of Industrial Development Sarawak, currently known as MINTRED. He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts, (Hons) in 1981.

Datuk Amar Hj. Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki is the current Sarawak State Secretary, appointed on August 3, 2023. Before this, he held positions such as Deputy State Secretary (Socio-Economic Transformation) in the Chief Minister’s Department from January 2, 2018, to June 30, 2022, and Director of the State Planning Unit from June 16, 2016, to January 1, 2018. He has a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Universiti Putra Malaysia (1999) and a Bachelor of Arts from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1987). Additionally, he completed the Senior Executive Fellows Leadership Programme at Harvard University in 2017. 

 

His career includes roles such as Director of the Sarawak Foundation (2006-2016), Deputy Director of the Sarawak Foundation (2000-2005), and Assistant Director in Higher Education at Sarawak Foundation (1991-1995). He was also the Branch Head for Sarawak Foundation's Kuala Lumpur Branch and Secretary for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship at the Sarawak Foundation from 1995 to 1999.

Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Haji Wan Omar is the State Financial Secretary of Sarawak. Before that, he served as Deputy State Financial Officer and formerly as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources (MUDeNR) as well as the Ministry of Housing Sarawak. Besides his role as State Financial Secretary, he is the Chairman of two state government-linked companies (GLCs) and the director of various state-owned companies. Moreover, he is a Board Member of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC). 

 

His academic qualifications include a Certificate in Southeast Asian Studies from Columbia University, New York City, USA, a Bachelor of Sciences in Economic & Political Science from the University of Northern Illinois, USA, followed by a Master's degree in International Affairs (Economic Development) from the School of International & Public Affairs, Columbia University, New York City, USA. In 2014, he was awarded a PhD in Business Studies from University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

Datu Lester is the Director of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Sarawak, a position he has held since January 2023. He has attended the Senior Executive Fellows Programme at Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, USA, and holds a Master of Applied Economics from the University of Adelaide, Australia.

 

A dynamic senior executive with over 20 years of experience in the State Civil Service, he has led and managed numerous planning and development initiatives. Before joining EPU Sarawak, he was the Director of Investment Promotion at the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA).

Dzulkornain bin Masron is the current Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED). He holds a Master of Science (MS) in Human Resources Development from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (2004 - 2006) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology and Anthropology from Universiti Malaya (1988 - 1991).

Abang Ahmad Abang Morni served at the Forest Department Sarawak since 1995 in various divisions of forest administration and management throughout Sarawak. He is also involved in various international collaboration projects, among others with the ITTO, EU, GTZ, FAO and at various levels in the ASEAN region. At the national level, he is involved in various technical and steering committees related to climate change and forestry.

 

He is also involved in the formulation of policies related to forestry, biodiversity and climate change at the national level, with more than 10 years of experience in the protection and conservation of mangrove forests and forest management certification in Sarawak.

Datu Abdullah bin Julaihi has a distinguished 30-year career in civil service, primarily in the Land and Survey administration. He served as the Director of the Land and Survey Department Sarawak from 2019 until he was appointed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development (MUDeNR) in 2024. 

 

Under his leadership, the department won the Chief Minister’s Innovation Awards from 2019-2021, and the Chief Minister’s Award for Departmental Excellence in 2019. His focus on digital innovation earned the department multiple industry recognitions at the Malaysia Technology Exhibition in 2020 and 2021. He has been the Chairman of the Land Surveyors Board Sarawak (LSBS) since 2019. Datu Abdullah holds a bachelor's degree in Syariah Law from Universiti Malaya, a Master’s in Policy Science from Curtin University, and an Advanced Diploma in Land Administration from the Western University of Australia.

Sirai Daha is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, Sarawak, serving since January 2023. He has held various significant roles in Sarawak's public administration, including Resident of Sri Aman Division and Principal Assistant Secretary in agricultural and regional development ministries. Sirai holds a Master of Policy Sciences from Curtin University and a Bachelor of Arts in Writing and Communication from the University of Malaya.

Datuk Sharbini is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy Berhad. He also serves as an elected board member of the International Hydropower Association and a council member of Energy Transition Malaysia Alliance, a coalition consisting of Malaysian energy leaders to drive energy transition in the country. Datuk Sharbini has also been appointed to Singapore Management University’s International Advisory Council in Malaysia.

Dato Janin is the Group Chief Executive Officer of PETROS. He has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, holding various leadership roles in Malaysia and abroad with Shell, PETRONAS and PETROS.

Datu Haji Ismawi is the Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA). He has a Master of Business Administration, from Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He has been appointed as the CEO of RECODA since January 11, 2018. 

 

Before joining RECODA, Datu Ismawi was previously attached to the Chief Minister’s Department (Sarawak) as a Deputy State Secretary (Socio-economic Transformation). He has 38 years of working experience and extensive experience in the state government sector especially in state economic planning.

Graduated from University Malaya in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics (Analytical Economics major), Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim bin Sikh Abdul Majid started his career with MIDA in August 1996. He has served MIDA for 25 years in various capacities and functions which include leadership roles in investment promotion, project evaluation and industrial development in MIDA headquarters and overseas offices in the USA, Japan and Singapore.

Tang is the principal of Albert Tang Advocates. He also serves as the honorary secretary of trade and investment in The Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), a Chamber that was established on July 20,1951. He was also conferred the Darjah Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) in 2019.

Chief Executive Officer

Timothy has over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He has served in various capacities, providing strategic advice to Ministers, foreign dignitaries, senior government officials, and C-Suite executives on strategies, policies, strategic initiatives, and investment projects. 

 

Before joining InvestSarawak, Timothy held multiple positions in key federal government organizations such as the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the National Innovation Agency (AIM) under the Prime Minister’s Department, and Steinbeis Malaysia Foundation. He played a pivotal role in developing initiatives like the National Graphene Action Plan, the Mid-Tier Company Programme, and the National Biomass Strategy, which paved the way for similar current initiatives.
