Job Description

The Head of HR and Administration oversees the office management and all HR functions within the company. This includes ensuring smooth daily operations, managing all things related to employees (such as recruitment, training, and staff benefits), and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the company’s strategic goals by aligning HR practices with organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Human Resources:
    • Hiring – Lead the process of hiring new employees to make sure the company has the right candidates.
    • Employee Development – Set up training programs to help employees improve their skills and grow in their careers.
    • Employee Support – Manage employee needs, handle concerns or complaints, and maintain a positive workplace environment.
    • Pay and Benefits – Oversee pay structures, bonuses, and employee benefits to make sure they are fair and competitive.
    • Compliance – Ensure the company follows all labour laws and keeps up with changes in employment regulations.
    • Performance Management – Help set up employee reviews and performance goals to keep everyone on track.
    • Policies and Handbook – Responsible for developing HR policies and procedures as well as the employee handbook.
  2. Administration:
    • Manage Office Operations – Keep the office organised, make sure all employees have what they need, and ensure the office environment is safe and comfortable.
    • Facilities and Supplies – Oversee the maintenance of the office and handle relationships with outside vendors who provide office supplies, cleaning services, etc.Health and Safety – Ensure the office meets all safety standards and takes care of employee wellbeing.
    • Budget Management – Manage the budget for both office operations and HR-related expenses.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Manage Teams – Lead and support both the HR and admin teams, ensuring they work efficiently and communicate well with other departments.
    • Collaboration – Work closely with other departments to make sure both HR and admin functions are supporting the company’s goals.
  4. Process improvement:
    • Efficiency – Look for ways to make office and HR operations run more smoothly and improve workflow.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; a Master’s degree or HR certification is preferred (NHRCi Certification, MIHRM).

Experience: At least 10 years’ experience in HR and office management, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of HR practices, employment laws, Sarawak Labour Ordinance and compliance requirements.

Ability: Proven ability to create and implement HR strategies that support the company objectives.
